Tomas Montalvo
is a biologist from the Universitat de Barcelona (1997). In 2003 he started working in the Agència de Salut Publica de Barcelona, in the Department of Pest Surveillance and Control, on risk reduction of vector-borne diseases. Currently, he is the responsible of surveillance and control mosquitoes Program, and the surveillance of the different zoonosis in the city of Barcelona. He is research in the Biomedical Research Networking Centres (CIBER) in Epidemiololgy and Public Health.

His work focus on the study of vector-borne in the city of Barcelona, and their impact on public health. Especially on the variables that modulate the risk of transmission of arboviruses (dengue, zika, chikungunya and west nile virus), and the zoonotic potential of different urban pests (rats, gulls, pigeons, parrots…) on public health.

He has participated in different Congress and Workshops, he has given different courses, seminars and conferences, and furthermore has published more than 50 scientist publications in journals related with the fields of public health, invasive species, medical and veterinary entomology, vector borne diseases, and biodiversity and conservation.
